The apricot is rich in vitamin A, C, B1, B2, fibers, tryptophane and Potassium. It has many health benefits and also helps prevent some types of cancer such as lung and pancreatic cancer. It has carotenoids ( beta-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin and lycopene) which explains its orange colour. The carotenoids play an important part in preventing heart diseases. In addition, beta-carotine contributes to the strengthening of the immune system. A study which has been published in “ Archives of Ophthalmology” indicates that the consumption of three or more parts of apricot a day reduces the risk of vision loss in the elderly.

Provision

The capability of providing the apricot of Havetsis Fruit begins with the beginning of the harvest, from May 1 until early September

The green colour indicates the harvest period and the red colour indicates the preservation period.

The cultivated varieties of Havetsis Fruits are all French and every one of them has distinct characteristics and special taste. The cultivated selections are mainly of the COT International but there are other types as well, such as Farbaly, Mediabel and Pricia. All the estates are covered in anti-hailstone nets which are adjusted according to the selection that is growing underneath so that we can have the desired colour. In Havetsis Fruits you can find yellow-orange or even 100% red apricots!

Preservation tips for the consumer:

Apricots must be preserved in a refrigerator for 5-7 days and must be washed prior to consumption. If they are too hard we can preserve them in a paper bag ( not in the refrigerator) for two days. Prior to consumption it’s better to keep them in room temperature because that is how they attribute their savour characteristics. They can also be preserved in a freezer provided  we cut them in half and remove the pit first.
